Before joining CBS News Chen Moonves worked as a reporter at WDTN-TV dayton (1995-1997). She also was employed by ABC NewsOne from 1992-1995. In her desk-assistant role in the ABC News late night broadcast Nightline She worked alongside Ted Koppel. He remains one her heroes in journalism. Chen Moonves, who won Columbia du-Pont for the primetime Anatomy of a Riot special that explored the 1992 Los Angeles riots, worked with Koppel.
